Andy is an artist, film director and cinematographer.
Director:
Andy has a unique approach to filmmaking where he utilises delicate, lyrical and conceptual viewpoints.
Originally training and working as an artist and photographer, Andy graduated from Falmouth College of Arts in Cornwall, UK in 1999 with a first class honours degree and a published monograph of his work. This background gave him the foundation for his work today and serves him to interpret a story in a highly visual way. With sensitivity and empathy towards his characters.
Andy has directed several acclaimed campaigns for clients such as VW, Guinness, Variety, Central Office of Information, Patek Phillippe and Street Smart.
He has also directed multiple award winning films, including: 'This Chair Is Not Me' which won top awards at Silverdocs, LA, Sheffield DocFest, Supershorts, and was nominated for best British Film by the UK Film Council and was runner up in the best film category at the prestigious Cinema-Eye losing out to the late Tim Hetherington.
This was followed with 'I Can Smell The Cordite' and 'If Himmler Played Guitar' both of which screened at over 40 festivals worldwide and scooping several awards on the way including a recommendation by the British Film Council as films “not to be missed”
'80,000 Christmas Lights' was commissioned by Film London for the Dickens bicentenary celebrations, this premiered to critical acclaim at the BFI South Bank and is now part of an exclusive touring package with the British Council, educating communities internationally on the works and themes of Charles Dickens.
Andy's latest film project 'Serious Swimmers' is an adaptation of a Michel Faber story, and stars Brian Gleeson (Snow White & The Huntsman) and Kerrie Hayes (The Mill) developed and green-lit through the Collabor8te scheme. To date it has screened at festivals all over the world including Palm Springs Film Festival and the London Film Festival.
Andy is also an alumni of iFEATURES, the feature film development scheme with his project 'Time & Tide'
Currently, Andy is developing several film projects including his debut feature 'The Scent of Dogs' which is currently at the financing stage.
He is also Creative Director and founder of film production company WE ARE CARAVAN (www.wearecaravan.co.uk) and virtual reality studio We Virtually Are (www.wevirtuallyare.com)
Cinematographer:
Andy is an award winning film and commercials cinematographer. He has shot still and moving image advertising campaigns for several high profile companies such as Armani, Chanel, Guinness, VW, Ford, NHS, BMW and Audi.
He has also lensed numerous film projects including multi award winning 'This Chair Is Not Me,’ and worked with many prominent directors including Giles Revell, Tim Flach, Deborah Haywood & Joe Morris.
Andy is driven by beautiful imagery and has a unique affinity to light. His images are exceptionally crafted; seamlessly blending naturalistic viewpoints with the stylised and the ethereal.
Andy has won over 30 awards for his cinematography and has seen his work screen at multiple film festivals including Sundance, Cannes, Edinburgh, London and Los Angeles.
